What we do with our members

As a member of Opening Doors you can:
  • access individual support from our trained and trusted members of staff and volunteers
  • attend your local Advocacy Group – these groups allow you to share things, get your voice heard, discuss important local and national topics and personal issues that can affect you and your local area
  • stand for a place on the Management Committee
  • be a part of one or more of our working groups that make decisions on different parts of how Opening Doors is run from the training we run to AGM planning
  • attend our Annual General Meeting
  • be a trainer on one of our training courses run for professionals and other self advocates
  • represent Opening Doors on external steering groups, sub groups, regional and national forums to talk about things that are important to us
  • join our campaigns on issues that affect people with learning difficulties
  • have fun and try new activities!
Depending on how you choose to get involved, your confidence can grow. The more you do, the more skills you will develop and the more experience you will get. This means you will be better equipped to take on new challenges.
