About Opening Doors

What we do

We believe in empowering people with learning disabilities to speak up, take the lead, and shape the world around them.

With support from our skilled staff and dedicated supporters, we help people:

  • Understand and make decisions about their lives
  • Plan and run projects
  • Learn about important topics like bowel cancer screening and staying safe online

We run:

  • Fortnightly self-advocacy groups across Norfolk
  • An online LGBT+ group that offers support and community
  • On-site advocacy sessions for people in secure hospital

We hold a contract with Norfolk County Council to provide 1:1 advocacy support to help people:

  • Claim benefits
  • Access social care
  • Plan for the future
  • Improve wellbeing and reduce loneliness
  •

“I am safe at my advocacy group.
It is somewhere I can speak up and not be scared.”

“I never would have spoken up without an Adviser with me – I don’t know what I would have done.”
