Projects

Our Lottery Project

We are thrilled to have four years of funding from The National Lottery Community Fund for our Healthy, Happy, Safe project.

Our Steering Group, made up of people with learning disabilities, helps to lead the project. They worked really hard to plan and run the Healthy, Happy, Safe Day on Wednesday 17 June 2026 at The Forum in Norwich.

The free event celebrated Learning Disability Week and brought people together from across Norfolk. Lots of brilliant organisations ran stalls, sharing information, advice and support. We loved the performances, thought the talks went really well, and were so pleased with everyone who ran craft tables throughout the day.

Most of all, we loved seeing so many people with learning disabilities coming together, meeting each other and having a good time. That is what we plan and run the day for.

Thank you to everyone who came along, and to our amazing Steering Group, volunteers, performers, speakers, stallholders and supporters who helped make the day such a success. We are already looking forward to Healthy, Happy, Safe 2027!

Have Your Say

We are also doing a BIG SURVEY to find out what life is like for people with a learning disability in Norfolk and use this to make life better for them.

You can complete the survey online, or if you would prefer a paper copy, please contact our office and we will send you one along with a freepost return envelope.

Before you begin, please take a look at the Information Sheet and Ways To Get Support guide.

The survey closes on Friday 31 July 2026, so please make sure you submit your response before then.

Your feedback is important to us, and we would love to hear from you.

Get Volunteering

Thanks to a grant from the Get InVOLved Skills Innovation fund we ran a project last year looking at making volunteering easier for people with learning disabilities.

As part of our project we said we would make some free easy read templates. You can download and use them from here:

Volunteer Agreement
Volunteer Form
Volunteer Expenses

These can help organisations make information accessible for volunteers with learning disabilities.

You can listen to one of our members talking about the project here.

With support from Hopestead we are helping people with learning disabiltiies to understand housing better and stay safe in their homes.
We are providing:

  • 1:1 help with housing problems with a trained Advocacy Adviser
  • Friendly, easy-to-understand training sessions about how to manage a tenancy
  • Helpful easy read information

Energy Champions

This project will help you understand bills, meters, how you use energy and how to save money on your bills.

We are looking for people with learning disabilties to become our Energy Champions and learn new things.
To be an Energy Champion you must be able to

  • Meet up with the project supporter for about 2 hours each month
  • Design and lead energy workshops to be delivered to people with learning disabilties
  • Offer peer support

Get online, be safe online

Thanks to CityFibre we ran a Get online, be safe online project to teach people with learning disabilities to be safe online.

We did a survey to find out what tech people use and what people can do online.
Read our report about what we found out from the survey.

We made Easy Read SMART rules to help you be safe online.
People on the project learnt how to use Alexa the voice assistant.

Download the SMART rules and How to use Alexa Easy Read Guides.
